A super fun post Lavinia. Sadly I can’t join you at BP this year. I broke my arm near the shoulder a month ago and had surgery on it a week ago. It’s my right arm, so am typing with one finger on my phone.

We had a great trip to Milan and around northern Italy, then to Provence, Normandy for D-Day and Paris in May and early June. Luckily I was in SF when I tripped and fell on my arm. It’s been a slog. So it was fun to read about your travels. Looking forward to reading the ew book.

Oh, Ellen! I’m so sorry about your arm! But happy to hear you’re still taking the world by storm!!

I love this Lavinia, what a wonderful snapshot! And some new places I want to visit. Thanks for the inspiration!

“I am, forgive me, so completely not into sports, but I’m a lifelong fan of irrepressible joy and collective effervescence, so I adored every minute of it.” - I love this line so much and can totally identify! Might be a jumping off point for a future essay. 😊

Thank you, Rebecca!

Last falls trip to Bend, Oregon was very cool. This fall is hopefully Seattle, to tie in with another sailing friend's book launch.

I grew up on Cape Cod, too! Four Seas is the best. I just finished the book and loved it.

Oh thank you, Ellen! So glad you loved the book! (And don’t feel shy about posting a review!) Four Seas is under new ownership but the chip chocolate and fresh peach are as perfect as ever!

I'll definitely post a review! I'm a student of Paulette Perhach and really enjoyed your recent talk. Hoping to submit to the Solas Awards this fall.

I knew the former owners of Four Seas - in fact, his dad and my dad were good friends and worked at Barnstable High together. The new owners are doing an amazing job. I need to get over there this weekend and get a chip chocolate!!

My husband went to Barnstable High and knew him (and loved him) too!

Ask him if he had Ed Cliggott as a history teacher!

Loved every word. Is the event at Cross Street Flower Farm open? I would love to attend!

Lavinia Spalding's avatar

Hi, Alex! Yes, the event is open to the public. (They all are!) It’s not up on their website yet but I suspect it will be soon. Stay tuned, and I hope to see you there!

Great news! Thank you, hope to see you there as well!

Thanks for the amazing round up. I already love many of these locations, but I had no idea about Boulder, Utah. Am planning now, or as soon as the sailing season ends here.

Lavinia Spalding's avatar

Boulder is pure magic. When you go, make sure to introduce yourself to my sister!

We are major foodies so we'd be sure to go to the restaurant, but my hubby thinks I am dreaming to think we can add more travel to our list this year or next! he's probably right, too. Sigh.

Put it on your list for next year, then!! It’s truly magnificent there.
